A Personal Update – and Setting New Goals – SocialSonya

Its been a very busy few weeks. I started a new job, while wrapping up with old clients, attended a conference in Raleigh, NC, organized a fundraising event for The Geekettes Club, and worked on selecting a Board of Directors for The Club. Phew! I need a holiday 😀

In all honesty, I’m having a great time. My new job is very exciting. I’m the Director of Marketing for a number of Dominion Enterprises brands including:

I also have the opportunity to launch a brand new product for Dominion. I’m one of three core team members who are developing the product, the team and bringing this project to fruition. So exciting!

On a more personal front, I have been working with Karen Clements on a fundraiser for The Geekettes Club and the ForKids organization. We were so fortunate to receive a boat load of donations from businesses across Hampton Roads, and held a silent auction. We raised over $2000 and are looking forward to presenting ForKids with a check to help homeless families this holiday season.

I also spent some time putting together an amazing Board of Directors for the Club. I was able to invite a few former AOLers, and a few local folks who are leaders in our community. I’m really excited to be moving in to 2011 with this dynamic team, and look forward to taking the club to the next level!

I’ve had an amazing year this year – topping it off with being chosen as an honoree for Women in Business 2010. I’m one of 20 women chosen to be honored this year at a luncheon on December 13. At last years event, I remember winning a ticket through Facebook, and meeting my good friend (and Geekettes Club Board Member) Del Scheitler for the first time as I was seated at his table. I thought to myself as I watched all the women being honored, that I would make this one of my life goals – to be included in the honor list at some point in my life. Who knew it would only be a year later that I would be included on the list!

So, now its time to set new goals. What do I hope for 2011? Success in my new job, expansion of The Geekettes Club, and a balance in my work and life. Wish me luck!
